4-eye-makeup-looks-for-different-occasions

It can be tough to decide on an eye makeup look. There are some situations, such as a workday or a trip to the mall, in which I want to wear makeup but don't want to appear overdone. Other occasions, such as a night out, definitely call for cosmetics, but I may decide on different looks depending on whether I'm going on a date or just having fun with my friends. Many of you may feel the same eye makeup indecision, and I'm here to help.

Creating an eye makeup look that is perfect for a given occasion doesn't have to be difficult. It's simply a matter of taking the situation into consideration. Obviously, an important meeting at the office may not be the best time to break out your new Urban Decay glitter eyeliner, even though you've been dying to try it out. Similarly, which girl wants to go on a first date with a tired, makeup-free face? Read on for some eye makeup tips that may influence your cosmetic decisions for the better!

1. Day Makeup: Obviously, not every daytime occasion calls for you to put effort into eye makeup. If you're just grabbing coffee with a close friend or running to the grocery store, you may not even bother with a swipe of mascara. However, some situations are different. Say, for example, you're going out to the mall, a movie, or sporting event. You want to look pretty, but not overdone, so keep your eye makeup simple and light. Gently apply eyeliner and a single coat of mascara. If you want to use shadow, stick with light or pastel shades. During the summer, a peach or bronze shimmer looks great for daytime! Tip: to appear fresh and awake, dab a bit of white shadow in the corner of your eye.

2. An Office Look: For a day at work, you want to wear a bit more makeup than for a casual daytime occasion. However, office makeup can be tricky, given that a hectic schedule leaves little time for reapplication. When it comes to a professional look, it's best to stay away from bold colors because the fluorescent lights of office buildings will make these colors appear to be harsher than they really are. To be a pretty professional, use a soft eyeliner and a coat or two of mascara. Stick with a single warm-toned shadow, as these will counteract any harsh fluorescent lighting. Up late working? Zap under-eye circles with a light pencil concealer.

3. Date Night: For a cute date look, you can choose to make your eyes or lips stand out. Personally, I always choose eyes. You can try a fun, flirty look by using bright colors, or go for a sultry, sensual look by blending dark shadows. Regardless of which colors you choose, a smoky eye is a great date look. Apply a darker shadow to the eyelid, and use a lighter version of the same color to fade out along the brow bone. Make the color slightly sweep out at the sides for an easy smoky eye. I usually use brown shadows, which define the eye without being over the top. Use a dark liner on the upper lash line, and don't forget mascara for extra definition! This look is also great for formal evenings in general.

4. Night Out With The Girls: Personally, I think this is the most fun look of them all. A night of fun with your friends is a great time to break out your most glamorous, dramatic makeup. These are the nights to experiment with bright eyeshadow and neon eyeliners, and not be afraid to use a little too much glitter. A fun idea for girl's night is to get creative with mascara. Apply a coat or two of your regular black or brown mascara first, then add a punch of color by brushing a bit of colored mascara (blue, green, purple) onto the tips of the eyelashes.

Top Makeup Looks for Every Situation

makeup looksYou can achieve a wide variety of different makeup looks to suit every occasion with a few basic makeup techniques under your belt.

Learning the basics of applying foundation, highlighting your eyes, and keeping eyebrows neatly groomed to flatter your face can ensure that you are able to make the transition from morning to evening with only a few simply tools in your makeup bag.

Any good makeup look will start with a clean, clear face, so it's essential to wash and moisturize your face in the morning so that you have a fresh palette to work with.

On top of this, you can then tailor your personal look to the occasion you have planned for that day.

Makeup Trends for the Office

During the daytime, you will want to think about makeup looks that are flattering but natural at the same time. Keep your skin tone, eye color, and general sense of style in mind, and then find looks that compliment this.

A soft line of eye shadow rather than eyeliner can keep your eyes looking sultry without being too obvious about it, and a coat of mascara will bring them out further.

For office-friendly lips, you can line them with a nude pencil for definition, and then sweep on a gloss to keep them moist and pouty without being too dramatic.
Makeup Styles for a Sophisticated Evening Out

Whether you are in need of bridal makeup, prom makeup, or want to mimic celebrity makeup, there are a number of different looks you can achieve at home. For a more sophisticated look, you could try a smoky eye paired with a nude lip.

Line upper and lower lashes with a black or dark chocolate liner, and then blend in dark eye shadow carefully, paying extra attention to the crease in your lid.

This can then be combined with false lashes, or you could curl your lashes before applying black mascara. A contrast to this could be emphasizing your lips and keeping your eyes neutral. Use a deep lip stain or bright red gloss for a glamorous, look when out on the town.
Party Looks to Stand Out in a Crowd
makeup looks
Some of the best party makeup looks draw upon the same principles as the makeup styles for a sophisticated night out, but you can feel free to be more outrageous and experimental when you are going to a party.

Gothic makeup, bright fluorescent colors, or even exotic trends can all be used.

Don't be afraid to use texture as well as color to give your look a personalized flair. As with any look, be sure to focus on one feature rather than playing up your entire face at once, or it will be overkill.

Bridal Beauty Tips

Every bride deserves to be the very special lady of the day and look her best. The hairdo, the makeup, the bridal trousseau and how the bride conducts herself is the focus of everybody's attention on this day and you will certainly feel much more comfortable, if you have already done the dress rehearsal first.

Here are some useful tips for the bride:

To cover the reddish skin, use sheer color corrector and apply tinted moisturizer of yellowish green or olive green shade to neutralize it.
Pink color blush is not for the wedding day, generally speaking. Try bronzer under cheekbones instead.
Bright lip colors may be warm such as orange-red, orange-gold, copper and warm beiges, creams and caramels or cool such as fuchsia, magenta, blue-reds, shades of lilac and pink and make lips look plusher and fuller.
Deep warm lip colors such as yellowish and orangish browns; mahogany, deep warm reds and chocolate and deep cool shades such as cool brown, taupe, deep purple, plum and blue-toned burgundy underplay too much thickness of lips.
The subtle look can be achieved by using the air-brush a lot and sticking to light shades such as cream, gold, lime green and brown for warm skin undertones and lilac, plums and soft pink for cool skin undertones.
Neutrals are the safest choice to make you seem a bride endowed with natural beauty.
Be sure to coordinate you overall look: all the colors should have either warm or cool tone while your hair, make-up, jewelry and gown should correspond to the carefully chosen theme.
Hairstyle is usually chosen, after completing the makeup to suit the looks of the bride.
If you are not used to wearing heavy makeup, keep your hands away from blue and green eye shadows.
For olive and dusky skinned ladies, maroons and brown lip colors are the safest bet as well as the golden tones.
Hairstyles are often adorned with pearls, rhinestones, flower buds, golden lace, satin ribbons, jeweled hair bands and tiaras among other hair ornaments and may range from the simplest French braid or bud to complex and elaborate hairdos.
Bridal makeup includes all the attention to the minutest of details. Don't overlook them for the finished look.
A timeless makeup look will keep your wedding snaps fresher forever, so try not to give in to the fads of the day.
Cream foundation with a high pigment level is recommended.
Don't forget to cover your neck, chest, area behind your ears with foundation and makeup too.
Morning weddings need natural look makeup while evening weddings need more formally adorned brides with darker makeup shades.
Lighting also determines your makeup. A well-lit area uses lighter colors while deeper tones are good for darker areas. Fluorescent lighting will add a greenish tinge to everything so avoid green shades.
Try not to be too dramatic but there is a secret seldom revealed: red lipstick makes teeth appear whiter!

Anti Aging Makeup

How to Look and Feel Younger for Longer
anti aging makeup

Anti aging makeup is a popular choice amount women in their forties and above because that tends to be the time that wrinkles, fine lines, and other facial signs of aging start to appear.

While you may still be a cougar in every sense of the word, having some makeup around that will help you slow down the aging process cannot be considered a bad thing.

Here is a look at the different anti aging solutions available, as well as tips for looking young in general.
Mineral Makeup

Mineral makeup is a revolutionary idea that could be the anti aging solution you have been longing for.

This makeup is made up of vitamins and minerals that can conceal your problem areas and heal your skin at the same time.

Healthy foundations will promote the look of the youthful you that still remains inside.
You can stay beautiful with a mineral foundation makeup, but you can also get tighter, softer skin for the future. This is the ultimate solution for any woman worried about her age and makeup.
Natural Lipstick

You should always try to look as natural as possible if you want to fight the appearance of old age. Some women in their middle years struggle to put on too much makeup to make themselves look younger and hipper, when in all actuality, that ages them.
Assuming you do not want to fall in the same trap, consider getting some natural colored lipstick that you can wear on a daily basis.

Just make it the same shade as your lips are, or maybe a couple shades darker. You need it for sheen more than anything else.
Anti Aging Moisturizers

There are moisturizers on the market today that are said to tighten the look of fine lines and wrinkles after a certain period of use.

If you want your makeup to look as good as it can, you may want to check out some of these products to ensure that you have a good foundation to work on.

There are many brands to choose from, so feel free to experiment a bit to find something that will work well for you.
Attitude

A lot of times you do not need anti aging makeup to look younger.

All you need is a little bit of confidence to get your youth back. Look in the mirror and find one good thing you like about yourself.

Then find something else the next day. Do this repetitively and you may be able to build enough confidence to run the young ones out of their reign for good.

Wedding Makeup

Although wedding makeup is generally associated with the bride, who wants to look perfect on her big wedding day, all guests want to look their best at this type of occasion.

A wedding is an excuse to dress up and look sharp. Whether you are the bridesmaid, mother of the bride, or simply a guest at your next wedding, you will want to spend a little bit of extra time and effort to look natural, sexy, and glamorous.

Some of the best makeup ideas and tips that work for weddings are similar to those that you would use for a big night out, such as airbrushing.
Makeup Ideas for Different Wedding Locations

The best type of wedding makeup for your next occasion will depend greatly on the location and time of day of the wedding. For a spring daytime wedding that takes place outdoors, guests will want to go for a more natural look. You might want to use floral or pastel tones, such as peach, mauve, and berry colors for your lips and cheeks.

This can look pretty on the big day. By contrast, if you are attending a formal wedding taking place in the evening, you could combine your black tie attire with smokey eyes or red lips. Be sure to only play up one facial feature at a time if you are going for a more dramatic look, or you could end up overdoing it.

Makeup Trends for Bridesmaids

The best wedding makeup for bridesmaids may depend on what sort of look the bride is going for. You should generally strive to be a more toned-down version of the bride on this special day.

If she is wearing bright red lipstick, you could mimic this in a berry or red lip stain instead, so that you are not quite as glossy but still blend in to the overall look of the wedding. Airbrush makeup can be ideal for these situations, because it builds an even foundation on your skin, giving you a smooth palette to work with.

Because you will probably be photographed as part of the wedding party, be sure to choose colors that match your skin tone.
Anti Aging Makeup for Mother of the Bride

For the mother of the bride, her daughter's wedding day is almost as important as her own. If you are planning your wedding makeup as the mother, you will want to use anti-aging makeup techniques.

Curl your eyelashes for a wide-eyed look, and avoid using harsh or vivid colors which could wash you out. Instead, a natural or dewy look is usually the best plan. Be sure to find a foundation with even coverage so that it hides your wrinkles or other blemishes, and apply moisturizer liberally.

Waterproof eye makeup will prevent mascara streaks during emotional ceremonies.

Bridal Makeup

Looking Perfect for that Perfect Day
bridal makeupEvery bride has dreams of looking perfect on her wedding day. That is why bridal makeup is such an important style to get makeup advice on.

The overall goal with this makeup is to have the bride look natural, sexy, and completely stunning all at the same time.

It’s a bit of a challenge, but anyone can do it with the right makeup ideas. Here are a few makeup tips that may inspire you for your wedding day....

Airbrush

Airbrush makeup is unique in the way that it is applied. Rather than being brushed on or rubbed in, it gets sprayed on through an airbrush.

This is great for weddings because it produces an even foundation to build on, and it gives a flawless appearance that could easily be mistaken for the bride’s skin.

Make sure that you pick out the foundation after taking into account any spray tan sessions you will go to or anything else like that. Otherwise your face may not match your body.

Liner

Eye and lip liner can be great for applying makeup on a bride. They provide some definition of the features, and they help some of the other makeup stay in place on her face.

Dark eye liner is great for a pop, but it should only be used in moderation. Otherwise you may not look much like a bride.

Shadow

When it comes to eye shadow, you can either work with a natural color that will bring out the features of your face, or you can work with something that fits the colors of the wedding.

If you do that, be sure that the hue of your eye shadow is still fitting to your face. That will be more important when it comes to pictures.

Lips

Most brides will choose to go for the perfect lips that will really wow a crowd.

To do this, you may not need a crazy color or liner. All you need is the right application techniques. Natural lipstick can look great, but only if you use it well.bridal makeup

Get something with a little sheen to it so it will stand out in pictures, and do not be afraid to go a little dark with the bridal makeup if it fits the look of your dress and wedding.

In the end, the only thing that matters is how you think you look on your special day. Everyone else will love it too.

Evening Makeup

How to Stand Out in the Crowd

Evening Makeup
If you are planning on wearing evening makeup, you already know that bold and sexy is the way to go.

While natural makeup is great for everyday looks, sometimes it needs a little flirt and pizazz. That’s where the nighttime makeup styles can come into play.

Here are some makeup tips you can take with you to get the best look possible for your evening out on the town. Feel free to expand on these as needed.

Foundation

The foundation you wear should be the least of your concerns for a fun night out.

As long as it covers the blemishes and even out skin tone, you should not have an issue. Be careful about using just liquid base in case you plan on going dancing.

The sweat could make that makeup drip over time. Use some subtle powder that will not weigh you down, and then focus on other areas to put makeup on.

Eyes
evening makeup

Your eyes are going to be the features that count for your evening look. Dark eye makeup tends to be a popular choice for people going out just because of its association with sexiness.

You can use black, dark gray, maroon, dark brown, or something similar to give your eyes a smoky look to them.

Just be sure that you use some eye liner as well so that your eyes have the best pop possible.

One of the best dramatic eye makeup tips to learn involves putting the darkest shade of shadow you want to wear in the crease of your eyelid.

Then cover the rest with a lighter shade and add a highlighter under the brow line for contrast.

Lips

You can wear any lipstick you want for evening looks, but you may want to make it something you can easily reapply during the night in case it wears off. Do not use regular lipstick.

Instead, get a tube of gloss of a shimmer color to wear because you can put it on without looking at the mirror, and because it will make other people want to taste your lips.

Nothing could be sexier than that.

Cheeks

Do not go too overboard with your blush, but don’t be afraid to use some of it either.

The best makeup advice to consider here is to apply the brush from the outside of the cheekbones in so that the bulk of the color does not end up in the center of your face.

Some bronzers may do well in place of the blush in some evening makeup situations.

Natural Makeup

A fresh face is always in style. If you're easing yourself into makeup or would simply like to try something new, follow these steps to look naturally beautiful.
Steps

1
Clean your face of any previous makeup. Put makeup remover or water on a cotton ball. Dab or rub in small circles to remove old makeup.

Determine your skin type and cleanse, tone and moisturize with suitable products twice daily. If you have skin problems like spots/blackheads, exfoliate your skin.
2
Moisturize. Using a small dab the size of a pea, gently rub in an unscented, oil free lotion. Scented lotions can aggravate skin and cause breakouts or an allergic reaction, and oily lotions will encourage acne.

3
Apply foundation. Before you start, it’s best to determine whether or not you’re using the right foundation color. Get in a natural light and test the foundation to make sure it's the right color for your skin. Dab a few marks on your cheek and angle your face different ways to see if the color matches.

Take your finger or a sponge dab in the foundation, and dab it on your face, blending it until it looks like your skin tone. Be sure to go underneath your jaw line; if you stop at the edge of your face, there will be a clear line where the foundation ends.

If you have bags or discoloration under your eyes, make 3 dots on the line of the circles under your eyes. Blend it gently using your ring finger.

For a more natural look, use a tinted moisturizer instead. Tinted moisturizers blend in while evening out your skin tone and commonly contain SPF and moisturizers. Those with clearer skin will look best with this.

4
Use concealer on dark or red spots. Make sure this is the EXACT same color as your skin. When you apply the concealer, do so directly on the spot and not around it. This is to avoid a halo effect and emphasis of the spot. Optionally set with beige powder.

Be careful not to overdo it on the concealer; you only need enough to cover the spot.

5
Use two shades of eyeshadow for a professional look. The colors you choose should be golds, browns or silvers, depending on your skin tone and coloring. Apply a light, neutral tone all over your lid and just above your crease and use slightly darker to softly line the top lid and outline your crease. For a natural look, remember to blend the colors.

Alternatively, use lighter colors on the inner parts of your eyes and darker tones on the outside. Put white eyeshadow or eyeliner on the inside corner of your eyes to make them look wider and brighter.

6
Line your eyes with a roasted-colored gel liner. Pencil looks less natural than liquid or gel liner and gel is easier to blend. Line two thirds of your top lashline and one third of your bottom lashline. Smudge the line with a cotton bud.

7
Curl your eyelashes. This gives you a natural-looking lift without the use of mascara.

8
Apply one coat of brown or soft black (for darker skin) mascara. If you are satisfied with your results in the previous step, you may skip this one.

9
Apply Bronzer. Bronzer is a great way to give yourself a natural glow. Lightly brush bronzer all over your face (or just along your cheekbones and T-Zone for a natural suntan appearance). However, bronzer can look silly on people with pale skin if applied incorrectly. Practice at home with bronzer to see if it looks good on you before going out with it on. If you don't like the way it looks, skip this step.

10
Apply Blush. If you were not happy with bronzer, you can apply blush instead. Creme blush generally works better than powder because it gives you a dewy look and lasts longer. Using a champagne-tinted creme blush, rub a little on your ring finger and blend onto your cheekbones. Note that you should not apply both blush and bronzer; choose one.

11
Apply a neutral lip color. Avoid using chalky lipsticks or shiny lip glosses. Lip stain is generally best because it looks natural and lasts all day. Use a color that's close to your natural lip color.
If you want it to look like your natural lip colour is red, go for it! Nothing's stopping you!

Permanent Makeup

permanent makeupAlso known as cosmetic tattooing, permanent makeup has become hotter and hotter over the past few years. In the past it was a technique used mainly by models, actresses, or others in the entertainment business who wanted to shave lengthy hours sitting in the makeup chair.

However, more and more women are learning that they too can shave off this time in front of their mirrors.

Eyebrows, for example, are one of the top areas that are tattooed on. Years of over tweezing eyebrows can make it difficult for them to ever grow back naturally, so with cosmetic tattoing it's possible to instead put them in place without worrying about it.

Top Makeup Trends

Another area of the face that you might want to consider permanent makeup on is the mouth. Lip tattoos can give definition to the lip line, and eliminate the possibility of ever having lipstick bleed.

Colored lip tattoos can cover or disguise any scars in this area and eliminate the need to keep reapplying lipstick.

Eyeliner tattoos are another hot trend, making sure that you will never again need to use an eyeliner pencil.

If there are any techniques or styles of makeup that you know you never change, such as black eyeliner or a certain shade of lipstick, then this permanent cosmetic technique saves you time and money.

Be sure that you never plan on changing your lipstick shade before getting it tattooed on, however, or you may have a difficult time removing it later.

How Permanent Makeup is Applied

The process of applying permanent makeup is the same as with any tattoo. This involves penetrating the skin over and over again with a needle, with pigment or dye being released into the hole.

This is an ancient technique that is usually used for more elaborate designs, but it also may be used for these cosmetic reasons.

The needle must always be sterilized properly, so be sure that you are going to a licensed tattoo artist before you have any of these procedures done.

You will need to have a skin patch test first to see if you are allergic to the pigment, and then you can choose the colors that you want.

Evening Makeup Looks and Celebrity Makeup Styles

If you're going out on the town, you can combine your basic tattooed makeup with a more dramatic evening enhancement. For example, if you already have a line of dark eyeliner above your eye, you can then enhance this with black mascara and darker eye shadow blends.

By working with your regular makeup that is in place, you can adjust it as needed. This is what celebrities who have had this procedure do as well. The permanent coloring is there only as the primer for the rest of the makeup style.

Milk

Milk Skin Care BenefitsMilk health benefits is known to all but do you know the skin benefits of milk? Milk has proteins, calcium, lactose, fat, vitamin A, B12, D and zinc. Milk soothes and nourishes the skin and the natural ingredients from this dairy product helps hydrate, alleviate redness, and prevents irritated skin. Besides utilizing the health benefits of milk here are skin care benefits of milk. Apply milk on the skin for a smooth and glowing complexion.

Skin care benefits of milk:
1. To re-new skin cells and cleanse the skin naturally, take 2 tablespoon milk, 1 tablespoon turmeric powder and ' tablespoon lemon juice. Mix the three ingredients and apply it on the face and neck. Leave it on the applied areas for 15-20 minutes and rinse off with tepid water. This will help get glowing and smooth skin whilst cleaning the dead cells out.

 2. Milk had lactic acid which exfoliates the skin and cleanses it. Take a cup of milk. Add 1/8 cup of fresh rosemary and 1 roughly chopped passion fruit. Mix all these ingredients and simmer it in low medium for 15 minutes. Strain the mixture after it cools down. Apply this mixture on your face with a saturated cotton ball in upward sweeping motion with light pressure to clean the surface of the skin. 3. If you want an instant glowing skin for a night out then grind almonds with milk and add few drops of olive oil to make a semi-smooth paste. Now add grind orange peel and apply it on the face and neck. Leave the paste for 15-20 minutes and wash it with cold water. Rub an ice cube for 2-3 minutes and then pat dry. This exfoliates the skin and cleanses it.

 4. One of the most simple methods of applying milk for skin care is; take boiled milk and massage it on the face with a saturated cotton ball for 3-5 minutes. It not only cleanses but helps get a glowing skin. If applied daily, the change in skin complexion will be clearly visible.

 5. To cure dry skin problems, make a mixture of milk, honey and mashed banana. Apply it on the face and let it dry. Take some milk and wet the skin and massage gently.

 6. To avoid aging skin, apply milk and honey home facial mask on the face and leave it for 15 minutes. Wash your face gently with warm water and repeat this milk skin care home facial mask to keep a tight and young glowing skin.

Milk has lactic acid which helps exfoliate the skin and make it look clean. So, use the skin care benefits of milk as a proper and natural skin care remedy.

Oats

You may love them. Perhaps they make you think of cold mornings, and you can remember how a steaming, brown-sugar flecked bowl swimming in cream would warm you all nice and cozy. Or maybe oatmeal makes you think of a gummy thick paste forced down your throat before school. Which was bad enough, but what you really wanted was a bright, sugary cereal like the kids on TV eat as part of a balanced breakfast. Either way, oats are more than breakfast these days. At the end of this article are a few wonderful recipes using oatmeal in ways that the Quaker may not have intended.

The edible grains of a widely grown cereal grass, oats (avena sativa) appear in many beauty products. People appreciate their soothing, anti-inflammatory properties. Come to think of it, that's another childhood memory. When I got the chicken pox my mom popped me into an oatmeal and baking soda bath to relieve the itching. Oats are also highly absorptive, hypoallergenic, and help to soften skin. They have the best amino acid balance of all the cereal grains (amino acids work as water-binding agents in skin care products). Oats have also been clinically shown to help heal dry, itchy skin. Oat grains and straw appear in shampoos, dusting powders, moisturizers, and cleansing bars and that's just the start of a list!

Always be careful when using natural skin care products to note all ingredients and avoid any which you are allergic to (nuts, for example, are found in many recipes for facial scrubs). If any persistent stinging or redness occurs, thoroughly cleanse your face and rinse well with cool water.

Sometimes skin sensitivities can develop seemingly out of the blue. If this happens, discontinue use. When working with essential oils, remember how potent they can be. It takes perhaps 10 pounds of lavender to make just one ounce of the essential oil. Also, it is best to consult your doctor before using essential oils if you are pregnant or epileptic.

When choosing rolled oats (the breakfast cereal kind) for the following treatments, make sure to check the ingredients. There are plenty of popular brands available that are nothing but rolled oats, as they should be. Don't get the quick-cook or flavored versions. When the recipe calls for ground oats, use a clean coffee grinder or blender to grind the flakes to a fine powder. Mixed with cornstarch and/or arrowroot powder, this makes a very mild dusting powder for you or baby.

The following recipes are perishable and should be used right away.

Oat and Brown Sugar Scrub:

2 Tbsp. ground oats
2 tsp. brown sugar
2 Tbsp. aloe vera
1 tsp. lemon juice

Mix all ingredients in a clean bowl until you have a smooth paste. Gently massage onto damp skin, and rinse off with warm water. You can triple the recipe for a fantastic smoothing body treatment.

Banana Bread Masque:

½ really ripe mashed banana - moisturizing
2 Tbsp. ground oats - soothing
milk or cream, add as necessary - softening
pinch nutmeg - antiseptic
2 Tbsp. whole wheat flour - antioxidant

Whip ingredients together, adding cream or oat flour as necessary to get a smooth, paste-like consistency. Spread on clean face and leave for 5-10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly and pat dry.

Oat and Honey Milk Bath

½ cup rolled oats
¼ cup powdered milk
2 Tbsp. honey

Place all ingredients in a small, natural fabric bag (muslin and cheesecloth are great choices). Hang the bag under the faucet as you fill the tub, so running water disperses the goodness throughout your bath.

Olive Oil

In the middle of summer when your skin has taken a beating from sunbathing, beaching or generally enjoying the great outdoors, it’s time to stop and pamper yourself with a refreshing, soothing and, most of all, nourishing treat. Olive oil (surprise!) is good for every kind of summer skin treatment – washing, exfoliating, moisturizing, soothing and beautifying.

Wash your skin with olive oil soap

Olive oil soap is simply the best way to wash your skin. Even before soap was invented, when the Egyptians wanted to clean themselves, they spread olive oil on their skin (which stuck to the dirt) and then scraped it off. Other civilizations learned to put soda ash in olive oil and it became the first soap. Because of its emollient and soothing effect, olive oil soap softens and moisturizes the skin as it cleanses. Today, you can find all kinds of soaps with combinations of olive oil and other natural ingredients that offer a texture and a multitude of fragrances to suit your taste. For sensitive skin types, The Olive Oil Source has a special line of organic olive oil-based soaps from Marius Fabre and Panier des Sens in France that are uniquely created to pamper delicate skin.

Exfoliate with a sea salt or sugar body scrub … and olive oil

Exfoliating is important in warmer months. Your body sheds skin cells at an amazing rate every minute of every day. If you don’t exfoliate, your skin can look dull and dry, no matter how much moisturizing lotion you use. For the face, I suggest a gentle exfoliate of sugar and olive oil. Mix a small amount of olive oil with ½ teaspoon of sugar. Apply to the face, being careful not to exfoliate under the eyes, and then rinse off. Exfoliate about 3 times a week to prevent clogged pores and promote healthier skin. For the body, I suggest a “not-so-gentle” exfoliant. Mix ½ cup olive oil and 1 tablespoon of coarse-grained sea salt. Massage your skin in a circular motion and shower.

Moisturize with olive oil

Slather olive oil – on the face and body. Use straight olive oil or olive oil mixed with your favorite lotion to moisturize after exfoliating. And, always moisturize before you go to sleep so that your skin can rejuvenate overnight. Olive oil nourishes and softens the skin. Why?

Among all the natural lipids, olive oil has the most similar chemical distribution to human sebum (sebum is the body’s own natural skin lubricant). This similarity gives olive oil a strong affinity to human skin. Olive oil is completely safe, easily absorbed and has a cell “re-fattening” capacity.
As an antioxidant (containing hydroxytyrosol and vitamin E), olive oil helps fight free radicals and prevents cell degeneration.
Olive oil will not clog your pores; it penetrates quickly, leaving skin soft but never greasy.
Olive oil contains squalene which improves elasticity, vitality and tone and protects the skin from dehydration.
Soothe sunburns with olive oil

For painful sunburns, olive oil can be used to help soothe your painfully reddened skin. While olive oil is not intended to be used as suntan oil, primarily because it does not contain any sunscreen, it can be of great help after one has experienced a sunburn.

The following is a simple treatment for sunburn and even for the blisters that sometimes follow too much exposure to the sun: Mix olive oil with an equal amount of water. Beat until it becomes an emulsion. Apply to the affected area. For blisters, make a compress of warm olive oil and chamomile tea. Apply to the blistered area.

Beautify your feet with olive oil

If you find that a pedicure is not fixing the damage of days on the beach or in sandals, give yourself a foot scrub using 3 tablespoons of olive oil, 3 tablespoons of honey, 1 tablespoon brown sugar and a squeeze of lemon. Once the concoction is made, clean your feet with warm water, then rub the mixture onto feet, massage and rinse. Apply your favorite moisturizer (olive oil, of course) and notice how smooth your feet feel.

An interesting sidenote …

We all know that gardening without wearing gloves can result in rough skin and torn nails. (Make sure you have your olive oil close at hand for moisturizing.) However, if you ever have an opportunity to harvest olives, you may not need that much protection. Picking olives without gloves can actually improve the skin. While gloves are useful, I like to pick olives with my bare hands for part of the time. Unlike regular gardening, my hands are soft and smooth afterwards. It’s almost like getting an olive oil rub from the ripe fruit. Just one more gift from this marvelous tree.
No matter what skin treatments suit your lifestyle, summer is one of the best times of the year to make sure you take good care of every inch of your body. So, do yourself a favor and treat your skin to olive oil products for the body from The Olive Oil Source Boutique. It will thank you all year long.

papaya

There are many papaya benefits for your health and this beautiful orange/yellow tropical fruit is proof that nutritious food can also have an amazing taste.
Papaya, also known as papaw, is a rich source of antioxidants, phytonutrients, vitamins, minerals and special digestive enzymes that have a remarkable effect both internally and externally.
If you’d like to improve your skin, relieve digestion problems, protect your eyes and heart and possibly lower your risk of many diseases like cancer, then consider the many benefits of eating papaya.
Skin Protection
Ripe papaya is a great source of antioxidant vitamin C, vitamin E and carotenoids like beta-carotene and lycopene. The high levels of these valuable nutrients can help protect your skin against free radicals known to cause damage that leads to wrinkles and other visible signs of aging.
The enzyme papain in the flesh and skin of the fruit actually breaks down dead skin cells and helps promote skin renewal when used topically on the face or body. Papaya facial treatments are a popular way to improve your skin’s texture, elasticity and appearance. They may also help with wound healing and burns and even assist in the treatment of skin problems like acne, blemishes and age spots.
Papaya is Good for Your Eyes
Along with its beta-carotene content that can be converted to vitamin A, so important to healthy eyes and vision, papaya also contains the carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin.
Lutein and zeaxanthin, known as xanthophylls, are concentrated in the macular region of our eyes. Here they provide protection against high energy blue light that can damage our eye’s retinas. A good intake of both lutein and zeaxanthin is believed to significantly reduce our risk of developing age-related macular degeneration (ARMD), the most common cause of blindness in America.
The high levels of lutein and zeaxanthin in papaya may also protect us against developing cataracts, glaucoma, and other chronic eye diseases. Other good sources of lutein and zeaxanthin are pumpkins, spinach, broccoli and the yolks from free range eggs.
Many people also report an improvement in visual acuity and color perception with high doses of lutein and zeaxanthin in supplements derived from natural sources like marigold flowers.
Heart Disease and Papaya
The high levels of vitamin C and vitamin E along with antioxidants like beta-carotene and lycopene in papaw can help reduce the oxidization of cholesterol in our arteries. Cholesterol oxidization is considered a dangerous process, potentially leading to arteries blocked with plaque that can result in heart attacks. Increasing your intake of these antioxidants from health foods like papaya may help improve blood flow to the heart and reduce your risk of developing heart disease.
Papaya is a good source of folate which helps control homocysteine levels in the bloodstream. High levels of homocysteine in the blood is known to damage blood vessels and is considered another potential cause of cardiovascular disease.
The beneficial fiber in papaya can also help lower undesirable LDL cholesterol levels in the blood by inhibiting its absorption during digestion. This is yet another way eating this amazing superfood can help protect us from heart disease and stroke.
 Improve Digestion
The enzymes in papaya, and especially the green fruit, can improve digestion by breaking down proteins into their individual amino acids. Undigested proteins can lead to many health issues, such as gastrointestinal problems and an overgrowth of flatulence causing bacteria in the colon.
The proteolytic enzyme papain found in papaya is actually so good at breaking down proteins, it is used as a meat tenderizer commercially.
If you can’t find it fresh, green papaya enzyme capsules and high strength digestive powder are convenient to take with a protein meal. Papaya does make for a great dessert whenever you can get it though.
There is much more on how papain can benefit your health in the page on how papain enzymes benefit digestion.
Papaya and Cancer Prevention
There are several important compounds that may make papaya a very beneficial superfood for reducing your risk of developing certain types of cancers. Obviously seek the advice of a knowledgeable health care professional when dealing with any serious disease. But also know that nutritious foods can support the body’s natural defenses and, in the case of papaya, may have certain nutrients of particular relevance for reducing cancer risk.
Once again, the rich antioxidant content of papaya, particularly lycopene, beta-carotene and another less well known carotenoid called beta-cryptoxanthin, are particularly beneficial in reducing your risk of developing cancer.
Proteolytic enzymes in papaya can digest the fibrin protein layer of cancer cells that usually surrounds and protects them. This may leave the cancerous cells more susceptible to the body’s immune response. It is also believed to hinder its growth and inhibit the cancer from spreading.
The fruit also contains compounds called isothiocyanates that may help prevent cancer by eliminating potential carcinogens from our bodies and enhancing the action of tumor suppressing proteins. Cruciferous vegetables like broccoli are an even richer source of isothiocyanates, but papaya is still a good source.
Recent research has studied the powerful cancer cell killing effects of compounds found in papaya leaves. See the page on could papaya leaf be a cancer treatment for more details.
Eating Papaya
Hopefully these 5 papaya health benefits are inspiring enough to have you wanting to eat it more often. If so, the next page on eating papaya for better health has many ways to include more of this great tasting and very healthy fruit in your daily meals.

Pineapple

We have talked about so many fruits which are good for skin. Today, I would be talking about Pineapple. Like papaya, pineapple is great for anti-aging skin care. Following are some tips to use pineapple for your skin:
Extract pineapple juice and apply with a cotton ball on your face. Do not let it stay more than 5 minutes. It is rich in Alpha-Hydroxy Acids which slows down the aging process.
You can mash a very ripe pineapple and apply it on your face. Same precautions go for it too.You can add honey to pineapple or you can even add any other ingredients you feel like.
Cut a slice of pineapple and use it as a loofah to scrub your body while taking a shower.
Rub slices of pineapple on rough areas of the skin or on dark spots and blemishes to reduce them. But, always take care to wash off after 5 minutes. If you keep pineapple more than 5 minutes, the acids in the fruit would burn your skin.
Applying pineapple is one of the best home remedies for wrinkles, moles and warts.
Drink pineapple juice as frequently as possible or eat pineapple everyday. It is as good for health as much for skin. It helps with heart and kidney problems, has protein digesting enzyme, has proved beneficial for women suffering from irregular and painful periods and is an effective remedy for sore throats and colds.

Our food ranking system qualified potatoes as a good source of vitamin B6, vitamin C, copper, potassium, manganese, and dietary fiber.
Potatoes also contain a variety of phytonutrients that have antioxidant activity. Among these important health-promoting compounds are carotenoids, flavonoids, and caffeic acid, as well as unique tuber storage proteins, such as patatin, which exhibit activity against free radicals.
Most people eat potatoes in the form of greasy French fries or potato chips, and even baked potatoes are typically loaded down with fats such as butter, sour cream, melted cheese and bacon bits. Such treatment can make even baked potatoes a potential contributor to a heart attack. Vitamin B6 is also necessary for the breakdown of glycogen, the form in which sugar is stored in our muscle cells and liver, so this vitamin is a key player in athletic performance and endurance.

Salt

Salt Water Skin Care Benefits
What’s the secret ingredient to French Fries……… ‘SALT’. Without salt on your fries, you are practically just eating potatoes and not chips.

But salt is not just a tasty flavoring for food. Salt has many uses. The anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties makes salt a great healing agent for fighting infections on the body.

What do we do when we get a sore throat? We gargle some warm salty water! The salt in the water attaches itself to the infectious cells and draws out the moisture inside the cells, effectively dehydrating them until they are dried up and dead.

When used on the skin, salt can play an even bigger role with your beauty regime. Salt can help make your skin smooth and radiant. Lets find out how!

Taking a dip in the ocean is probably one of the best ways to get your dose of salt medicine. The ocean contains many vital elements that we need: vitamins, trace elements, mineral salts, amino acids, hormonal and bacteriostatic substances that have biological balancing effects, and living microorganisms that secrete antibiotic to help with beautify your skin.

Salt in the treatment of itchy skin, eczema and psoriasis

Salt water baths are excellent for itchy skin, improving eczema outbreaks, and treating psoriasis.

As salt open the pores and draw out toxins, they relieve the irritation and itching. When you finish your bath or shower, spend a few minutes rubbing salt into your skin. The rubbing actually helps improve circulation which is always good but the friction from the salt particles will remove dead skin which is often the source of the itchiness.

Salt for skin exfoliation

When taking a dip in the ocean, the salt in salt water exfoliates the outer surface of the skin, removing dead skin cells and revealing the fresh new cells underneath, which leaves the skin glowing.

Alternatively, for a home exfoliating treatment, you can use a salt scrub mixture during your shower to exfoliate the dead skin cells which dull the skin and leave your skin glowing from head to toe. Salt does not disturb the skin’s natural barrier, however, it does help restore overall mineral balance, which helps the skin to maintain proper moisture.

Salt for fighting infections and inflammations

If you are suffering with a skin infection or inflammation (eg. skin rash, insect bites, small cuts, scraps or dry skin), running it through some warm salt water will help the condition. As the water evaporates, it leaves the salt behind and attaches itself to the surface of infectious cells, drawing the moisture out and killing the cells.

Salt in the treatment of acne

Many research and documented reports have indicated that salt water can help to acne treatment.

Salts help to draw out toxins, microscopic dirt, impurities and kills bacteria that accumulate with oily skin. As it cleanses the skin, it also stimulates skin cells in normal metabolic detoxifying and cleansing processes.

Salt used for healing sore muscles

Salt water baths are great. If you are suffering from ache and pains in your body, the salt water bath will assist with decreasing inflammation, calming nerves and improving your circulation, which may help heal sore muscles and reduce fatigue. Bathing in sea water puts you in contact with waves that are massaging and pulsating, and is full of dissolved gases and rare minerals.

N.B It is important to note that six to seven days after a storm, the saltwater in the ocean can become contaminated and full of unlikely micro-organisms. It maybe wise to stay away from the ocean during this period.
